Moving to Year 7

Moving from primary to secondary school is an exciting and significant event in a child’s life but can also be quite a daunting prospect for a child and their parents. They will go from being the oldest in school to being the youngest, having to find their way around a new environment with different teachers for different subjects. They will also have to take more responsibility, such as:

  • taking a new and unfamiliar route
  • planning for each day’s timetable
  • making sure they have the right books and equipment
  • doing homework most evenings, which has to fit into their routine alongside other interests

All staff at Excelsior Academy work together to ensure that every pupil reaches their full potential and that both you and your child are active participants in the life of the Academy.

Our primary transition newsletters are packed with information for pupils and parents/carers, click on the links below to download.
