The forecast is bright and sunny for budding BBC TV weatherman David Whiteoak who stepped into the limelight as the region’s newest – and youngest – forecaster.
Excelsior’s David worked closely with Look North’s popular weatherman Paul Mooney to help him deliver the forecast live on BBC TV’s flagship Look North evening news programme.
As viewers finished off their teas, David told them what the weather would deliver in the North East and Cumbria in the next 24 hours and through the weekend.
David’s forecasting fame was part of BBC News’ School Report project where they work with 1,000 schools and 30,000 pupils across the UK, opening up their acclaimed news output to youngsters for the day.
David’s teacher Natalie Bryce said: “As part of the BBC School Report we have been working closely with Look North and following a recent visit to broadcast centre in Newcastle, David was selected to present the weather forecast on Look North.
“This is such an exciting opportunity for David and the academy and we are all so proud of him.”
