A packed programme of events heralds National Careers Week at Excelsior Academy opening up a world of job opportunities to students.
Excelsior is supporting #NCW2018 running from March 5th to March 10th which aims to promote the importance of good careers education in schools.
Careers experts will tell Excelsior College students of the support available to help them plan the path to their job of choice in two assemblies this week.
College Assistant Principal Deon Krishnan will lead Career Path advice for students where they will learn eye-catching CV writing skills and how to fill in a job application.
The region’s universities will exhibit their huge range of academic and vocational opportunities available on daily information stalls in the Sixth Form Common Room.
Teachers will also introduce careers advice and success stories into lessons and a series of inspirational videos and stories featuring Excelsior students now in work or apprenticeships will drive the academy’s social media activity to support #NCW2018
National Careers Week empowers schools, colleges, universities, teachers and careers professionals across the UK to celebrate quality CEIAG for at least one full week every year.
Excelsior Academy is seen as an exemplar school for its Careers, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG), chosen by the North East Local Enterprise Partnership to pioneer the Gatsby Foundation’s Good Careers Guidance Benchmarks programme.
This ensures that students get the best advice and guidance on careers relevant to their skills and aims.
