Towards the end of last term, Year 4 were chosen to take part in Forest Schools sessions with Miss Williamson and 2017 started with one last trip into the forest for Group 1 with a very special visitor, Miss Cowburn! The children had an excellent day out and Miss Cowburn experienced a totally different way of learning. In the forest, the children were the experts and showed Miss Cowburn how to whittle sticks, make dens and Ibrahim even made a stool with the help of a bow saw! The group returned to school cold, muddy but with huge smiles on their faces.

We have started the Spring term learning about the Vikings and as ever, Year 4 have surpassed expectations and created some fantastic Viking artefacts. As part of their creative homework, Year 4 have collectively made a fleet of long ships, a battery of shields and even an authentic Viking helmet (which Miss Cowburn modelled during one History lesson!). The class have really enjoyed learning about Viking origins, raids and they wrote some excellent diary entries detailing their journey to England on a long ship.
