Due to the unique small school structure at Excelsior the session times for individual lessons varies according to which school a pupil is a member of. All pupils are issued with individual timetables which show their daily lessons, however the following times are common to all Excelsior secondary school pupils.
All pupils are expected to be in their school, ready to work by 8.30am.
Breakfast Club: 7.30- 8.20am
School begins at: 08.30am
Meet and Greet: 08.30‐08.45am
Lesson 1 begins at: 08.45am
Lunch is a 30 min break between 12.00pm and 2.00pm
The school day ends at: 3.45pm Mon – Thurs**
**(The school day ends every Tues at: 3.00pm for KS3 – Y7,Y8 and Y9)
**(The school day ends every Thurs at 3.00pm for KS4 – Y10 and Y11)
The school day ends at: 2.00pm on Friday
The dining facilities at Excelsior enable all pupils in each of our schools to sit down and eat lunch together, as a school. Our site is safe and secure and all pupils remain on site throughout the day including at lunchtime.
Our award winning catering team provide a wide choice of meals, there are a number of food options including; hot meals, pasta, salads, oven baked potatoes as well as sandwiches and fresh fruit. A chilled and filtered water system is available in the dining hall for all pupils to use, facilities for pupils who wish to bring a packed lunch are also available.
Secondary School Uniform
The school uniform is an important part of belonging to Excelsior Academy. It helps pupils present themselves positively, gives them confidence to represent the school and promotes a strong sense of identity.

Our Secondary School Uniform consists of:
• White shirt
• School tie
• Grey Academy blazer – this is not optional and must be worn every day
• Black formal trousers (no fashion trousers will be accepted)
• Flat black school shoes (at no time will trainers or leisure shoes/Ugg boots be accepted)
• Optional V neck jumper/tank top
Compulsory – Polo Top, Trackpants and Shorts
Optional – Hoodie

Equipment & Expectations
As part of our school uniform pupils are expected to bring a bag to carry such items as;
• School bag
• Pen, pencil, ruler, rubber, etc
• PE kit (on PE days)
Hair should be tidy – extreme styles or patterns are not acceptable.
All pupils are assigned a personal locker and issued with a key.
Outdoor coats and winter boots should be kept in the locker during the school day.
Valuable items like jewellery, iPod, MP3 players and cameras should not be brought into school. These items are distracting and can cause difficulties in class, they are therefore not allowed.
No jewellery is allowed except for watches. Body piercing is not permitted and students will be asked to remove the non-uniform item.
